This new beta version of WinX DVD Ripper Platinum offers you a new interface and a larger list of device-based output profiles. The provided 350 profiles include support for the latest models of the most popular portable devices, such as Apple iPad (Mini and 4) and Samsung Galaxy (S3 and Note). It can convert any DVD, DVD folder, or ISO file, regardless of protection used, into popular video formats.

Its decryption capabilities will let you back up your valuable original DVDs for your personal use, allowing you to choose between creating a clone of an entire DVD as an ISO image and transcoding it into a smaller video file that you could play on your portable device. It can also use an existing DVD ISO as source, though when I tried testing this feature the program seemed to have some difficulty mounting the image file, resulting in longer loading time. Other than that, the loading and analyzing process works nicely. It gives you valuable information about the video and audio codecs used, as well as a list of all the subtitle streams found on the DVD. Additionally, it allows you to add new streams to the list by loading new SRT files. You can also load more than one video and tell the program to merge them before conversion.

Also, before converting your DVDs into other formats, you can perform some basic editing thanks to the built-in video editor. These are simple but useful tweaks, like enhancing colors, trimming, cropping, or expanding your video. The program’s embedded video player will let you preview it and take snapshots of individual frames.

Finally, it should be mentioned that even though the program makes use of multi-thread technology during conversion, the time needed to convert your videos will largely depend on your system’s capabilities and the level of quality selected.
