Secure Folder is a tool that allows you to protect your folders. The application uses three protection methods, being able to hide, lock, and encrypt any selected folders, preventing it from being accessed by users without your permission.
When you first launch Secure Folder, it will prompt you to set a password and provide an e-mail address in case you need to recover it. This password will be required every time you want to open the application.
The program has a compact interface that makes the process easy to carry out; you just need to add any directory you want to protect and choose the protection mode, that is lock, hide, encrypt, or all of them. If you choose the 'lock' option the application blocks access to any of the files contained in a folder. I tried with a folder with pictures, and although I could see the list of files, I could not open any of them. The Encryption method, which uses AES 256-bit encryption algorithm, works in a similar way to 'Lock', disallowing access to the folder contents or any other action such as copy or move. The Hide feature, in turn, makes a folder completely invisible from your computer, the only way to see it is through the main program, for which you will need the password.
Alternatively, you can activate folder protection selecting the option in the context menu, which makes the process even easier.
Apart from the folder protection function, the application offers some additional tools that are also related to protect your privacy, some of them are the Drive Manager that allows you to hide drives, the Website Blocker, that offers an easy way to block any website by URL, and an Application Blocker.
In short, Secure Folder is an efficient folder protector that is easy to use and offers some interesting extra tools. The free unregistered version is fully functional can be tried out during 22 days.
