MP3db 2012 was designed specifically to help you keep your collection of audio files neatly organized and free of duplicates. Besides, it will use its capability to read the metadata embedded in your audio files to create a convenient database with such data as title, artist, album, release year, etc., which you can then use as a good basis for building your own music catalog.

MP3db will perform all the dirty work automatically – it will scan all your drives (internal and external) and will detect and list all MP3 files present in your system. As said, it will use the data provided by the audio files themselves to build a tentative catalog of all your music, and – last but not least – will use its FuzzyDupes engine to detect any duplicate files that you may want to rename or simply get rid of. Unless all your MP3 files have been perfectly tagged beforehand, the resulting database will require some manual fine-tuning.

The database so created can be exported as a CSV file following your preferences. You can export all columns and rows or only those that fit your criteria – only selected columns, visible columns only, the header, all the rows in the database or a previously-filtered set, and any combination of these settings.

Finally, the audio files themselves can also be enhanced without leaving MP3db – you can tweak their balance, apply some dynamic amplifying, and even equalize their sound to fit your preferences. You can then check the results by linking MP3db with your preferred audio player.
